HIT PICK

The Throttlemen, with the Hillbilly Hellcats, Thursday, December 14, at the Bluebird Theater, is the latest vehicle whose pedal Denver rock veteran Rex Moser is mashing into the floorboards. His past efforts, in acts such as the Pi nk and the Flatlanders, have established him as a man who's plenty familiar with the brand of revved-up sounds most bar patrons want to hear, and the Throttlemen (also featuring drummer Mike Minnick and bassist Steve Emanuel) are n o exception to this rule. Moser calls the act's sound "psychobilly surf punk," and that's as good a handle as any. He's never recognized any speed limits--and so long as you're safe inside the Bluebird this Thursday, neither should you.
