Trouble at Plutoniumville

Boeing considers sending the Rocky Flats criminal case back to square one.

The plaintiffs in that case charge that plant operations resulted in off-site releases of hazardous materials that threaten their health. Attorneys for the neighbors have asked U.S. District Judge John Kane for summary judgment on the portions of their suit based on the admissions Rockwell made in the '92 plea; that motion is pending.

Although no trial date has been set in the class-action suit, Jim Stone's case against Rockwell is set for trial on February 8, 1998. Judge Matsch has given Boeing officials until October 20 to decide whether they want to try to back out of Rockwell's original guilty plea.
