With The Haunting arriving in theaters so close to The Blair Witch Project, it's impossible to avoid the inevitable comparisons between two films that take such obviously different approaches to horror. What's ironic is how much closer the spirit of Blair Witch is to the original Haunting than is the new Haunting itself.

Directed by Jan de Bont. Screenplay by David Self. Based on the novel The Haunting of Hill House, by Shirley Jackson. Starring Lili Taylor, Liam Neeson, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Owen Wilson.
