Digging Up the Past

Speaking of raising funds, this Saturday presents a rare to chance to see a very cool lineup in a very different space, to raise money for a very good cause. The Reals, the Shackdaddys, Sin Desires Mary and the Speedholes will each assume the lotus -- and the rock -- position in the Denver Zen Center (3101 West 31st Avenue) on January 19, in a benefit concert for the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan, a brave and burqa-bearing group that's working to reopen a hospital for refugees in Quetta, Pakistan. Enlightening leftist radio host David Barsamian(of Boulder-based Alternative Radio) will speak during the fundraiser as well. Rub the Buddha's belly, dig deep and marvel at this uniquely diverse bill.
