Nonetheless, this is a production that speaks to the audience. I've witnessed a lot of standing ovations. You have to wonder how sincere they are, however, when you hear the same people who've just been on their feet discussing where to go for drinks in the lobby seconds later. In what seemed to me a far deeper tribute, groups of people congregated after Collected Stories to discuss the play's meaning and the issues Ruth and Lisa had been arguing. I even saw a couple of tear-glazed faces.
