Highlighting the week's greatest gratis event

Are you just dying to know the ins and outs of Denver's Solid Waste Management division's hazardous-waste-collection methods? Waiting with baited breath to hear what Blueprint Denver means to your neighborhood? If so, this is your lucky weekend: Denver residents are invited to the free City Service Open House, Saturday, March 1, at the new Webb Municipal Building.

From 9 a.m. to noon, staff from various city agencies will be on hand to discuss, one-on-one, citizens' concerns and questions about everything from neighborhood safety to how to get a liquor license. "You're actually going to be able to talk to the people who run the programs," says Julius Zsako, spokesman for Community Planning and Development. Zsako, who is expecting about 400 people to attend the open house, notes "people are interested in what is going on in their yards, their neighborhood; people are concerned about their own turf."

The event, held in the fourth-floor atrium of the Webb Building, 201 West Colfax Avenue, will also offer the scoop on topics like housing subsidies, low-interest loans and cash grants. For more information, visit www.denvergov.org/planning or call 720-865-2969.
