Groove is in the house this Thursday, August 7, as H Foundation (aka Eric "Hipp-E" Galaviz and Brian "Halo" Varga) come to Rise (1909 Blake Street) to promote their Astralwerks full-length recording debut, Environments. The night will be a homecoming of sorts for ex-Denverite Hipp-E, who along with Chicago-born Halo has relocated to a new base in sunny San Diego. The duo behind the notorious "420 Sessions" track (released on Siesta Recordings) has proven itself to be an undeniable force, whether creating original tracks, producing and remixing or spinning behind the decks. The Foundation's West Coast house sound has gained substantial predominance across the pond -- the act's twelve-inch records have garnered regular play by some of the U.K.'s most promient DJs. The multilateral ambience of the twosome's deep house sound contains healthy doses of '70s funk, retro jazz and dub. And the live instrumentation and rhythmic richness on Environments takes the genre to another level. See the Foundation live to learn why so many people are already hooked on H.
