Andy Rourke and Mike Joyce

The beat is murder when The Smiths stop by South Park this week. Join Kenny, Kyle, Stan and Eric as...oh, wait, not that South Park. Rather, former Smiths members bassist Andy Rourke and drummer Mike Joyce will join resident DJs Michael Trundle and Tyler Jacobson for Lipgloss this Friday, March 19, at the Southpark Tavern, 60 South Broadway. Gigging around the British Isles with a project dubbed the Dogs and led by ex-Oasis guitarist Paul "Bonehead" Arthurs, Joyce and Rourke (who's since left the band) have successfully stepped out of the mopey one's shadow. Behind the decks, the rhythmic pair has developed a reputation for spinning a plethora of nostalgic nuances, from New York Dolls to Neil Young and, of course, plenty of Smiths tracks -- even solo efforts from their onetime frontman/adversary Morrissey. Dig up some challenging requests and your wallet: Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and the www.Denver3.com site warns there'll be no "beating cover" for this show. Hang the DJ, indeed.
