Megadeth

So what if Megadeth figurehead Dave Mustaine vowed "I'm not going to tour again" during an interview last year with Guitar Worldmagazine? So what if he quit the band after a 2002 arm injury left him unable to play the guitar? Mustaine's back, and given recent debates and the looming election, there's no better time for a concert tour by Megadeth, whose political opinion is perfectly summed up by the album title Peace Sells, But Who's Buying…. Over the course of two decades and many platinum albums, the quintessential thrash group added many trademark touches to its elemental heavy sounds and soaring solos, but it owes its reputation as much to controversial quips as to its music. The only original Megadeth member remaining, Mustaine continues to provide the songs and vocals, and he's back to playing guitar while also serving as occasional pianist on intricate compositions. His recovery seems complete on the newest disc, with racing riffs laying breakneck bridges over furious percussion, turning tempestuous bass lines into subterranean grooves. See the latest Megadeth lineup -- which has already changed once since the dates were disclosed -- unleash massive destruction at the Fillmore Auditorium this Tuesday, November 2.
