Mannequin Makeout

By Jason Heller

Published on January 27, 2005

When Cammie O'Nassis of Mannequin Makeout squeals, "Dance mania! Dance mania!," you'd better believe it. The coed Boulder outfit injects urgency and fun into rigid dance punk, discarding slick beats and airtight production for a raw, rabid sound that scrapes grease off the garage floor and favors clunky Casios and serrated static over hi-tech precision. The group's four-song demo -- available at www.mannequinmakeout.com -- is as jerky and cast in plastic as its name implies; like the Gossip and Lost Sounds hopping aboard Gravy Train, O'Nassis and her crew know how to incite a crowd to locomotion. Mannequin Makeout will be on display at the Bluebird Theater on Friday, January 28, with Matson Jones and Le Boom. Pucker up.
