Lili's Apron

The Starz FilmCenter's wide-ranging Global Lens 2005 series, which continues through May, features new films from such exotic climes as Uruguay, China, Turkey, Algeria, Bosnia, Mali and, if the rumors are true, North Dakota and Nebraska. This week, the two features on view will be Lili's Apron, a comic parable from Argentina about a jobless man (Luis Ziembrowski) who, in hard economic times, lands a gender-bending job as a wealthy family's live-in maid (think Mrs. Doubtfire), and Hollow City, which looks at the bloody civil war in the West African nation of Angola from the point of view of an eleven-year-old (Roldan Pinto João) who escapes a massacre in his village and the attentions of a missionary nun, then takes up a new life as an inventive survivor in the country's teeming capital city.

Both films open Friday, May 13, at Starz, 900 Auraria Parkway, and run through May 19. For information, call 303-820-3456.
