Scratching the Surface

Tyler Stadius

In a classic case of "If you want something done right, do it yourself," Tyler Stadius began deejaying in Vancouver in 1991 after being consistently dissatisfied with the DJs he was hearing at warehouse parties around town -- including some he threw himself. Already a veteran musician -- he cut his teeth fronting punk bands across Canada -- Stadius took the early rave scene by storm and quickly became one of its most recognized names, making his mark by introducing house music into an otherwise techno-centric milieu. Since then, Stadius (due at Vinyl this Friday, August 26) has become one of the Great White North's most-well-known exports, consistently touring the globe in addition to holding down residencies at London's esteemed Fabric and continuing to host nights in his native Vancouver.
