Frontside Five

Larimer Lounge

Don't call it a throwback -- well, actually, go right ahead. Frontside Fiveis proudly unapologetic about exhuming the thrash of classic American skate-punk acts like the Faction, Gang Green and Life Sentence. Formed three years ago by singer Brandon Stolz, bassist Brooke Crawford, drummer Robb Dogg and guitarists Shane Henry and Rusty Cowger, the quintet honed its attack on compilation appearances and a 2004 full-length, No Pegs, which perfectly distilled the rarefied essence of beer and blood-streaked asphalt. After much touring and coveted opening slots for legends such as DRI and Agent Orange, Frontside replaced Cowger this summer with Bart McCrorey, head of Motaland recording studio and the outfit's label, Fivecore. Besides pulling additional duty in the hard-hitting local bands Jett Black, Valiomierda, the Orbiting Nubs and Exit Strategy, McCrorey is currently engineering No Pegs' followup, an as-yet-untitled disc due out in early 2006. For a preview of all the pissed, drunken fun, catch Frontside Five on Sunday, October 16, at the Larimer Lounge, with Zeke and Love Me Destroyer. Look back in anger.
