To be fair, some women do get excited about the Super Bowl. They hunker down in front of the flickering television in the dark den with the menfolk, decked out in team colors, uttering guttural threats to referees when necessary and arguing with their spouses over who's going to get the chips and dip ready because "the game's on and I'm not moving."
But for the anti-football females in Denver this afternoon, there's Super Spa Sunday at TallGrass Aveda Spa & Salon, 997 Upper Bear Creek Road in Evergreen. The ladies at TallGrass are opening up the Sage Room Suite for Super Bowl escapees; pay just $35 and enjoy all-day use of the luxurious surroundings, complete with secluded patio, fireplace and a vaulted ceiling.
"We have complimentary food and beverages, gifts and mini-spa treatments all day," says Stephanie Novello, operations manager of TallGrass. Most of those cravings for pampering should fade somewhere between the paraffin dip and sensory journey but if they don't, regular spa services are available for booking, too. The toughest part will be choosing the indulgence: TallGrass offers such a variety of massages, facials, body wraps and scrubs, manicures, pedicures and hair treatments that picking just one is probably a form of torture in some countries.
Last year was the first Super Spa Sunday. "It was great," Novello says. "We have a lot of women who come up. This is their little special day with their friends while their husbands watch the Super Bowl." Join the fun by calling 303-670-4444 to book an appointment; you can peruse the array of services online at www.tallgrassspa.com.
