Junior Sanchez

Vinyl

In the 1990s, Junior Sanchez was one of America's seminal house artists. Incorporating elements of disco, funk and soul, Sanchez's sound was as smooth as it was infectious and funky. Through constant touring and the release of dozens of singles, the New York DJ became the face of that city's house scene. This decade, though, he's branched out from house: In 2001, through his label, Cube Recordings, Sanchez released several singles by Felix da Housecat, which helped kicked off the electroclash craze stateside. Sanchez (due to appear at Vinyl this Saturday, February 4) has also done remix work for the Killers and Franz Ferdinand in addition to rocking the house with his own band, Output, which has shared bills with such hipster dance-rock acts as the Rapture and LCD Soundsystem.
