Last year, Team Highland Pacific won the Denver Jax Fish House's annual Oyster Eating Contest. "The four of them ate 116 oysters," says Jax's Bryce Clark. And Boulder's individual winner scarfed down 95 all by himself.

In fact, all this month, Jax is all about eating ridiculous numbers of oysters. Tonight's tenth annual contest takes place during Jax's oyster fixe week, featuring a three-course menu for $30. All during the month of March, diners can eat ten oysters for $10, and when they order the French Quarter Fizz — the Oyster Month signature drink — proceeds benefit Make It Right, an organization that helps rebuild the homes of those displaced by Hurricane Katrina. Five cents from every oyster sold in March will also be donated to Make It Right.

Stop by Jax Fish House, 1539 17th Street, at 7 p.m. to watch the contest, and while you're at it, order a French Quarter Fizz and some oysters. You can start practicing for next year. Call 292-5767 for info.
