Mining History for Laughs

Aggressive panhandling is forbidden in Denver, but at The Mock Trial of Baby Doe Tabor, a Colorado History Group/Colorado Women's Hall of Fame production, the cast will be begging shamelessly for laughs. Patty Limerick, Mary Mullarkey and Tom Noel will prosecute Colorado's most notorious homewrecker on a variety of charges, including gold-digging, indecent extravagance and, yes, panhandling; Dennis Gallagher, Walter Gerash and Dani Newsum will defend her from a host of accusers, including sob sister columnist Polly Pry (played, and not well, by me). The trial starts at 1 p.m. today in the Tivoli Turnhalle, 900 Auraria Parkway; admission is $12, $7 for students. For information, go to www.cogreatwomen.org or call 303-280-2679.
Sat., April 15, 1-4 p.m.
