Tonight's Dash & Dine 5K is not to be confused with the "dine and dash," a method of eating dinner for free if you can outrun restaurant security. For one thing, the Dash & Dine is not illegal; for another, it doesn't involve racing on a full stomach, which is never a good idea.
Instead, racers will dash first, making their way along the flat, packed-dirt trail around Boulder's Coot Lake. At the finish line, they'll collect their prizes an assortment of goodies and gift certificates from local businesses and national sponsor Salomon and load their paper plates with cookout fare: hamburgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, chips, potato salad and soda.
The race starts at 6:30 p.m. and costs $12 in advance, $15 at the event; the cookout begins at 7:15. The Dash & Dine is also a Bolder Boulder qualifier; if you can't make tonight's race, you can try again any Tuesday evening through May 17. Visit www.dash-n-dine.com for more information.
