In the 1990s, Toronto may have boasted the biggest dance scene in the world outside of the U.K., but it didn't have a monopoly on talented jocks emerging from the Great White North. Pushing a sound steeped in dirty bass lines and heavy grooves, Vancouver's Jay Tripwire (due at Shelter this Friday, April 29) helped shape the underground with massive tech-house cuts like "Mastakilla" and "Nervous Acid." Tripwire has more than fifty releases under his belt on some of the best underground labels around. And while his tracks populate sets by the scene's most celebrated DJs, his own sets have put him in demand in the hottest clubs from Moscow to L.A.
