Johnny Fiasco

Vinyl

Over the past twenty years, one of America's few truly pioneering musical movements has been Chicago's house scene. The style virtually redefined dance music and has influenced everyone from New Order to Kylie Minogue. Johnny Fiasco (who spins at Vinyl this Saturday, May 6) is among the vanguard DJs who helped instigate the underground explosion that took place in the Windy City during the 1990s. Fiasco's big break came when he landed a residency at Chicago's Shelter, where he was joined at the decks by Mark Farina. Together the pair became the city's premier jocks, and they represented the sound as they toured the globe. In 1995, Fiasco began putting out his own tunes on Cajmere's Cajual label. Since then, he's continued to make his mark with releases like the Moody Grooves EP and classic tracks like "Conduction."
