Grave Matters

Keeping the final resting place of your loved ones in tip-top shape should be a priority — especially for those with larger family plots to attend — because there's nothing sadder than a neglected grave. In that spirit, the Fairmount Heritage Foundation offers a Gravestone Restoration Project today and tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Riverside Cemetery, 5201 Brighton Boulevard. "We wanted to find as many people as we possibly could who Riverside matters to, and who would love to be a part of this," says Nancy Niero, executive director of the foundation. "The more people we have to do the restoration work, the more progress we can make, and we have quite a few headstones and gravestones that need our help." Learn how to assess gravestones (today) and clean them (tomorrow); lunch will be provided both days, courtesy of the foundation. Attending the project is free, but reservations are required; call 303-322-3895 or e-mail heritage@fairmountcemetery.net to sign up or for more information.
May 20-21, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
