DJ Khaled

Listennn: The Album (Koch Records)

As the Terror Squad's official DJ, Miami-based DJ Khaled has made a name for himself on the mixtape scene over the past few years. So when it came time to make his inaugural record, he had a long list of artists he could use on the project. Typically, a DJ will enlist collaborators from two groups -- whoever's hot at the moment or his homeboys -- and Khaled doesn't break format on his debut. Dirty South artists, who are currently dominating the hip-hop charts, get the most play on Listennn. "Born n Raised," featuring Trick Daddy, Pitbull and Rick Ross, "Gangsta S***," which spotlights Young Jeezy and Bun B, and "Holla at Me," with cameos by Lil Wayne and Paul Wall, are all run-of-the-mill deep-fried hip-hop tracks. The flow does change up a bit when Kanye West and Consequence rip "Grammy Family," Beanie Sigel and Jadakiss tear down "Problem" and Freeway and the Clipse destroy "Where You At." Mostly, though, Listennn is a Southern thing.
