Great Perks

Even in the heat of summer, our fine Colorado Symphony Orchestra toils, but rest assured, the beat is more relaxed. Witness the CSO's laid-back Summer Coffee Concerts, a pair of mid-morning performances of works chosen precisely because they won't challenge lazy, listless summer listeners. And here's the kicker: Free Peet's coffee will be served to keep folks alert enough to appreciate the music! If only they'd throw in some lemonade and mint juleps.

Today's program, Hands Across the Sea, features a global hodgepodge of popular works by Sousa, Holst, Debussy and others; tomorrow's Summer Classics reprises a repertoire of classical favorites by Berlioz, Brahms, Schumann, Chabrier, Grieg and Tchaikovsky. Both shows begin at 11 a.m., and admission is $20, with an optional post-concert deli lunch available for $6 at the Theatre Cafe, by reservation only.
