Too Many Cooks

A collaboration between Steamboat Springs and Denver chefs leads to one tasty meal.

A little taste of Steamboat Springs can be had right here in the Mile High City this month during the Steamboat Wine Festival Denver Wine Dinner series, a scrumptious pairing of top chefs from the mountain resort with some of our own Larimer Square toques.

Tonight's partnership features Samba Room executive chef Tim Maness and Steamboat Grand executive chef Matt Piva, who will work their Latin-fusion and contemporary-Western magic to serve a multi-course prix fixe meal. Dinner starts at 6:30 p.m. at the Samba Room, 1460 Larimer Street; call 720-956-1701 for reservations. On August 2, Tamayo chef/owner Richard Sandoval and Steamboat Grand executive sous chef Carl Eklund will cook up a storm at Tamayo, 1400 Larimer Street; call 720-946-1433. Meals are $75 per person plus tax and gratuity; call host restaurants for reservations.

Our local chefs will then return the favor during Steamboat's annual chow-fest happening August 3 through 6, where a full round of tastings, wine dinners, seminars and just plain swilling and pigging out will take place in the jewel of the Yampa Valley. Double yums! For information and reservations for the Steamboat Wine Festival, call 1-877-328-2783 or log on to www.steamboatwinefestival.com.
