On Coming Up to Sunshine, Adenbrooke has melded equal parts punk attitude, alternative apathy and hardcore noise to create a sound that can best be described as post-mall rock. The six songs that make up Sunshine center on the transition from adolescence to adulthood and the confusion that brings. The musical formula works well at times and falters at others: Sunshine excels at switching styles and moods at the drop of a hat, but because of the band's often trite lyrics, the songs are almost interchangeable. There are a few bright spots, however, such as the piano-driven "I'm Sorry, Goodbye," which closes the album. Clearly, there's a lot of untapped talent lurking here that just needs some focus.
