At his preliminary hearing on August 16, Brett stood before the judge wearing a pine-green Denver County Jail jumpsuit. In exchange for Brett waiving his right to a preliminary hearing, the prosecution agreed to drop the three-strikes-you're-out felony sentencing charge, which would have allowed a judge to impose up to a 25-year sentence. Brett looked relieved; he says he's anxious to get out and do something with his life. During phone calls with Karrissa, he's told her that he loves her and wants to marry her, that he wants to grow up and stop making such immature decisions.

Brett will be back in court for another arraignment on September 7. But he's looking beyond that, to the day when he gets out of jail and can get on with life -- maybe outside of Colorado.

I wish to stay annoymous due to the fact I must protect my family. After reading this article, the comment I am posting is more about SEAN, I believe he would become friends with someone just like Brett because he did the same thing, Impersonating. When I met sean while he was in high school at South High, we met christmas of 1998. WE were together for a year, but during that whole year was hell to me, He always lied, told me false stories about he was working security at DIA, or he had become a Bounty Hunter to me and my family. One other time after we broke up I ran into him Homeless on 16th street mall. He looked like hell, his hair needed to be washed and he was wearing a white and stained old shirt. I was with my husband and was embarressed to even run into him, either he was acting he was homeless for god no reason or he really was but he creeped me out and scared me I was relieved to get away from him but the last thing he said to me was I am now working as a firefighter (didnt he just say he was homeless! I looked at my husband and we both started towards the free mall shuttle to escape him. I knew it was a lie just like the relationship was all but a lie and a few times threaten to hit me when he got angry after work. I guess it caught up with you didnt it!!! Thank you for the 1 year off hell, you made me look defently for a better man for a relationship, your a psycho and I knew you still be one after all this time...

Wow, now we have someone impersonating the impersonator. How delightfully ironic! I met with Brett Andrews numerous times while he was awaiting trial at Denver County Jail. I was perfectly clear with my concerning intent on writing an article about him. At no time did I offer him money. I met with him again in jail to check over facts in the proofs. After the story ran, I spoke with him again when I was the only person to show up for his sentencing, and he expressed to me how he actually liked the story. Furthermore, there is no such thing as a "release form" that needs to be signed for a journalist to write about a subject. This is probably why Westword has gotten nothing resembling a lawsuit about this article (a Livingston Award finalist) since this phony comment was posted in May. Dear Westword and to the writter of the paper, or whoever wrote this paper, as you well know this is the person that you wrote about, and frankly, I want to say this paper was a joke, I never gave the writter permission to write this story, and told me in the interview that I would get paid for this intervew, witch I haven't recived any money for this. I really can't say much as I am in the process of sueing this paper for releasing my information without proper signature of release forms. Also, I have heard that all Jared dose is hang out at strip clubs and picking up prostitutes off of Colfax, so he is not better doing his drug addidition as well. That is all I have to say about this, so good bye to all.......
