Krisana Park celebrates environmentalism.

"It is going to be the event of the century!" Dana Miller promises of the 2007 Krisana Park Modern Green Home Tour and Parade, which runs from 1 to 5 p.m. today. Better make that the event of the mid-century, because the houses in this charming pocket in southeast Denver's Virginia Village district all date back to the middle of the last century. That might make them seem an odd fit for an eco-friendly home tour, but "they're really environmentally sound in certain ways," Miller says. "They're smaller, and with the inside/outside design also emphasize passive solar. They're wise because of their size." On the tour, guides will point out what green improvements the owners have made to those houses; environmentally-friendly information booths will also be set up throughout the area.

Making it even easier to be green will be what Miller calls an "absolutely wacky" parade, which starts at 2 p.m. and will be led by Adam Hall, the Guinness record-holder for the moonwalk. He'll be followed by twenty kids on stilts and a kazoo-playing band of students from Ellis Elementary, the beneficiary of the proceeds. Tickets are $10 in advance (get them online at www.krisanapark.com or at Ellis, 1651 South Dahlia), $12 the day of the event; check-in is at 1404 South Eudora.
Sun., Sept. 16, 1-5 p.m.
