A Howling Good Time

There is nothing more adorable than a dog in a costume — except, of course, a pack of dogs in costumes, all swimming and doing tricks for treats in close proximity to one another. And when the proceeds from such dogged activity go to a non-profit organization that funds humane animal-health studies to advance veterinary medicine — well, that's enough to melt the heart of even the most callous cad.

Today's Canine Rehabilitation and Conditioning Group's Howling Good Time Halloween Costume Party features all that and more, including face painting for the human guests, photographer David Budd taking pet portraits, and endless pool demonstrations. And although the shindog is a benefit for the Morris Animal Foundation, admission and most activities are free. Still, you'll want to bring along some cash to purchase a picture from Budd, who's also donating his proceeds to MAF. A dip in the recreational pool costs the usual CRCG fee of $15 for first-timers and $7 for returning swimmers.

The CRCG is at 3760 South Lipan Street in Englewood; the party takes place from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Visit www.dog-swim.com or call 303-762-7946 for information.
Sun., Oct. 29, 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
