You can't see Happy Feet at the Cherry Creek Shopping Center. As with Narnia — the movie that inspired last year's holiday display — Happy Feet won't be showing at the Colorado Cinemas Cherry Creek 8, because the independent chain doesn’t have the pull of a giant, five-billion-screen multiplex. Pity. But the Happy Feet Snow Globes are charming enough, although my eight-year-old was underwhelmed by the animated penguins and falling soap flakes, and she wasn't the least bit interested in having her picture taken in front of a green screen that allows the photographer to substitute one of two North Pole backgrounds. What she really wanted was to see Happy Feet, but there was that little sign on the box office suggesting we call Fandango to find out where it's actually playing.

Still, in proper mall mode, Cherry Creek does offer prime holiday-shopping prospects — the Apple Store, the nearby Christkindl Market (behind Elway's) and a decent Santa's lap for the wee ones to sit upon. And tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., Sign Language Santa will be in the house. So, my advice about the movie? Go see Flushed Away instead. That's what we did, and it was utterly delightful. We even had a parking space!

Cherry Creek Shopping Center is at 3000 East First Avenue; call 303-388-3900 or go to www.shopcherrycreek.com.
