Athena Rising

The Athena Festival was so named because "Goddess Festival" sounded a little too creepy, says founder Dana Cain. A few years ago, the Littleton woman was looking to create an event with meaning and depth — something spiritual, but not another dime-a-dozen psychic fair. Thus was born a fest celebrating the wisdom of women.

"There's so much masculine, negative energy governing us right now — I won't name names, but his initials are George Bush," Cain says. Athena is "a chance to ground yourself in a feminine, creative, peaceful, non-aggressive environment."

That environment is a mix of Tarot card readers, healers, speakers, belly-dancing, a drum circle and people selling books, art, jewelry and clothing. When the festival ends, musical clairvoyant Carol Skylark will take the floor.

Athena runs from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ramada Plaza Hotel, I-25 and 120th Avenue in Northglenn. Admission is $5; kids under fourteen get in free. Skylark's musical psychic stylings begin at 5 and cost $10. For more information, visit www.athenafestival.com.
Sun., May 6, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
