Kingdom of Magic

15th Street Tavern

Kingdom of Magic may be the last band on earth not to have a MySpace page. But when you’re one of the heaviest bands in Denver, who needs that fake-world Internet bullshit? The Magic features the snarling frontman prowess of Luke Fairchild, who also sings in Git Some and whose name is linked with a few other outstanding — and sadly defunct — local acts such as White Dynamite and Sparkles. Rounded out by bassist Joe Ramirez (also of White Dynamite) and drummer Devin Rogers (of Munimula), the group is a three-man massacre of dropped tuning and towering, buzzed-out wall amps. There’s a stigma to the term “metalcore,” and rightfully so, but Kingdom of Magic may be one of the few bastard acts to truly meld the aesthetics of veracious hardcore with the relentless nerve of head-pounding sludge metal. Witness the doom and gloom this Saturday, December 2, at the 15th Street Tavern, when the Magic boys play with Black Lamb, Audio Dream Sister and the Swayback.
