...And you will know us by the fact that we're sitting on the sidewalk for no apparent reason.
Trail of Dead co-stars Conrad Keely and Jason Reece continue to beat the odds. The two have been making music together since 1994, and during that span, they've lived in a pair of musically buzzworthy cities: Olympia, Washington, and Austin, Texas. Keely and company were eventually "discovered" at Austin's South by Southwest festival, and after signing to Interscope, they released 2002's Source Tags & Codes to much indie-centric acclaim and little sales. Although most major-label first-timers would have been dumped then and there, Interscope stuck by the band for a 2003 EP, The Secret of Elana's Tomb, and the 2005 long-player Worlds Apart. The mediocre commercial performance of these discs seemed sure to seal the players' doom once and for all. But Interscope again resisted the urge to cut the cord and was rewarded for its patience with the recently released So Divided, the group's most eclectic yet accessible CD to date. Looks like the Trailers, joined on this date by Brothers & Sisters, do their best work when they're left for Dead.
