Buckcherry

Monday, February 5, Ogden Theatre, 1-866-468-7621.

Buckcherry does a more convincing Guns N' Roses these days than Guns itself. Rising up from the same sleazy Sunset Strip gutters that spawned Axl Rose and company, Buckcherry debuted in 1999 with a decadent single titled "Lit Up," which contained the memorable refrain "I love the cocaine, I love the cocaine," sung by Josh Todd, whose snarl embodied every Hollywood vice imaginable -- times a thousand. The emaciated, heavily tattooed howler subsequently embarked on a rock-star trip worthy of history's best bad boys, acting like a certifiable dickhead during interviews and evidently pissing his bandmates off along the way (Buckcherry busted up in 2002). Afterward, Todd was all set to front Velvet Revolver alongside former Gunners Slash, Duff and Matt Sorum, but he was ultimately ditched in favor of Scott Weiland. The jilted frontman reformed the quintet with Buckcherry guitarist Keith Nelson and three hired guns; last year, they scored their biggest hit ever with "Crazy Bitch," which nicks riffs from Aerosmith's "Sweet Emotion" and features the touching sentiment "You're crazy, but I like the way you fuck me."
