Scene and Heard

Sounds Supreme and Low Key have The Solution.

For hip-hop heads seeking to escape cookie-cutter club nights, DJs Sounds Supreme and Low Key have the solution. A few Fridays ago, the pair launched a weekly night at Milk Bar called -- you guessed it -- The Solution. "We're not trying to be too outside there," Low Key says, "but something different. I feel like now is the time in Denver when people are more open to that kind of stuff, compared to how they might've been a year, two or three years back." Low Key makes it clear, though, that it's not all about clownin' with the underground. The dynamic duo plans to sprinkle in some soul and mix it up by giving love to the locals. Stop by Friday, February 16, for Denver's official J Dilla tribute party, sponsored by Stones Throw Records.

For those more up for the downstroke, if you know what I mean, Bada Bing may be your thing. The new gentlemen's club has opened in the 8485 Umatilla Street space in Federal Heights that once housed Bare Essence. Naturally, the ladies will be the prime attraction for the first part of the week; this is a strip club, after all. But every Thursday through Saturday, Bada Bing will showcase the best in live local hip-hop and R&B. Yeah, get your groove on, dawg.
