Building Blocks

Learn to merge art and life at the Creative Business Expo.

For Amanda Rea, balancing creativity with making a living has not been easy. The fiction writer has had to juggle multiple low-paying jobs, sometimes getting up at 4 a.m. to write. When she moved to Denver, the Lighthouse Writers Workshop helped her create a writing routine. Today she'll join in a Lighthouse panel discussion titled "The Working Lives of Writers" at the Building Creative Businesses Expo.

The creative-writing group is one of fifty organizations participating in the free event at the Wellington E. Webb Municipal Building, 201 West Colfax Avenue, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Denver Office of Cultural Affairs is presenting the expo as a one-stop shop for the city's artists, filmmakers, dancers, designers, musicians and other creative types to learn about public and private resources that can help them build their businesses.

View the list of forty workshops online at www.denvergov.org/CreateDenver. Registration starts at 9 a.m. Full sessions will be closed to late arrivals, so plan to go early.
March 3, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
