Maybe it's their suspenders. Or their ladder-climbing, hose-wrangling, pole-sliding panache. Hell, saving kittens from trees and babies from burning buildings doesn't hurt, either. It really doesn't matter what that je ne sais quoi quality is; the fact is, firefighters are damn sexy, and during tonight's Fire Chief Ale date auction, they're also for sale.

Sporting "I'm not cheap but it's for a good cause" T-shirts, five coed Westminster firefighters willing to sell both their good looks and their time will auction themselves off for dates during the 6 p.m. tapping ceremony for the Westminster Rock Bottom Brewery's Fire Chief Ale brew. Bidding is silent and stays open until 7 p.m. on March 28, when it concludes with a Firehouse Chili Cook-off at Rock Bottom and the announcement of the winning bidders.

All proceeds from the auction, beer sales and chili samples go to support local charities. The Westminster brewery is located at 10633 Westminster Boulevard. For more information on the auction process, the dates or future events, call Diana Allen at 303-430-2400, ext. 4518.
