"It's a comment on the Holocaust," acknowledges Sher-Machherndl. "I'm not telling a story about it. Through movement, through the lighting, the costume, the music, I'm just making a little comment on the whole thing.
"I think that's our duty as artists," he adds. "Terrible things go on in the world. We have to show it, make a comment on it, whatever your artistry is. You have to do something." See what Sher-Machherndl did, at the Dairy Center for the Arts, 2590 Walnut Street in Boulder, where the premiere of Leopoldstadt 22 will play with a past success, Alien Nation, which is about, well, alienation and loneliness. The commentary starts tonight at 8 p.m. and runs again tomorrow at 2 p.m. For tickets, $22 to $32, visit www.thedairy.org or call 303-444-7328.
