Josh Polk knows a thing or two about punk. As the drummer in Whiskey Kiss, he's well acquainted with the notion that it takes little more than three chords and the truth to get the job done. Booking punk bands, on the other hand, isn't so turnkey. But that didn't stop Polk from talking the owners of Pasquini's (1336 East 17th Avenue) into putting on punk shows in their restaurant/bar. Although it's hoped that the place will be outfitted with a stage at some point, for the time being, Polk and company have been pushing the tables aside to make room for the bands. On Friday, March 16, Presidents Wives, a band featuring Karl Alvarez (All, Descendents), stops by the joint, with Charly "City Mouse" Fasano throwing down some spoken word. While the fare thus far has been primarily punk, Polk says he's willing to book artists pursuing pretty much any style, including poets and magicians. If punk in a pizza joint ain't enough to wet your appetite, Pasquini's has a killer happy hour every Thursday that doesn't kick off until 10 p.m. For less than ten bucks, you can get tore up from the floor up with $1 PBRs, Kamikaze shots and pizza slices. Punk yeah, man.
