Fashion With Passion

In its continuing effort to bring arts experiences to underserved Denver youngsters on a grassroots level, the United ArtistsCoalition for Kids — a conglomeration of artist volunteers — always has a lot of pins to juggle. The latest, a new gallery space that opened at 948 West Eighth Avenue, in the Santa Fe Arts District, could be the organization’s biggest, boldest move to date. But gallery space is expensive, and UACK founder Sara Finnegan-Doyon wants to keep it going.

To that end, UACK will host Transitions, a spring-to-summer fashion benefit featuring local designers (including Equillibrium, Potential Fashions, Grae Clothing, Assemblage Apparel, the Fabric Lab, Starfish and jewelry by Mya Designs), tonight at 8 p.m. at the Wynkoop Brewing Company, 1634 18th Street. And don’t expect this rent party masquerading as a fashion fete to be the least bit hifalutin’: Admission is only $8 in advance ($10 at the door), and the ancillary silent auction includes bidding on everything from designer handbags to home-baked pies.

For tickets, drop by the Parlour, 1736 Wynkoop Street, or visit www.uack.org/ transitions,
Wed., May 2, 8 p.m.
