Ask Anything

I think Bill Graefe Jr., with the International Association of Gay Square Dance Clubs convention, put it best when he wrote in his newsletter that this is the "gayest Memorial Weekend Denver has ever seen." Not only are the square dancers do-si-do-ing over at the Convention Center Hyatt this weekend, but just across the street, 111 teams will compete in the annual North American Gay Volleyball Association championships at the Convention Center, and bowlers from around the world will hit the lanes of the Wheat Ridge Brunswick Zone for the International Gay Bowling Organization tournament. To mark the occasion, Denver will roll out the rainbow carpet by lining the 16th Street Mall with Pride flags and encouraging businesses to do the same.

To cap off the weekend, local promoters B&G Productions are throwing Ask and Tell, an after-hours party to "show the guys from out of town how we party in Denver." The doors of the Aztlan Theatre (974 Santa Fe Drive) will open at 11 p.m. tonight and won't close until 5 a.m. tomorrow morning. The all night soundtrack will be provided by DJ Ken E.

Strangely, the bowlers and square dancers don't get a price break, but volleyball players should check their tournament pack for a $10 off coupon to the party.

Tickets are $15 in advance, $20 at the door, and $25 after 2 a.m.; purchase yours at Heaven Sent Me, 116 South Broadway. Call 303 733 9000 or visit http://bandgproductions.com for information.
