Everyday People

Now in its 36th year, the People's Fair is the oldest festival in the city. With 120 bands on six stages, 300 artists exhibiting their own painting, sculpture, photography, jewelry and crafts, the return of the wine pavilion, and a bigger, better kids' area, this year's version will continue to entertain and delight both newcomers and returning fair-goers.

"We have an emphasis on keeping our entertainment local," says Andrea Furness, marketing manager for Capitol Hill United Neighborhoods, which puts on the fair each year. "It's all local bands who are trying to get their name out there, and some well-known musicians across the state who are still loyal to the People's Fair."

On Sunday, Hazel Miller will grace the main stage at the Greek Amphitheatre; other favorites include Rubber Planet, Wendy Woo and the Flobots.

All day today and tomorrow morning, you can watch the Street Side Mural Project in progress, with teams from youth organizations painting on six-foot by eight-foot canvases.

Admission to the fair is free, with proceeds from beverage sales benefiting area nonprofits. Hours are 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. today and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. tomorrow. For more information, visit www.chundenver.org.
