Ballers

At present, the New York Yankees are practically cellar-dwellers. But back in the day, pinstripers Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig established legends that live on in Capturing America's Game: Photographs of Babe Ruth & Lou Gehrig, a showcase that steps to the plate today at the Denver Art Museum.

For museum director Lewis Sharp, the Ruth and Gehrig images, culled from an impressive collection assembled by Denver attorney Marshall Fogel, work on two distinct levels. "I believe these are photographs of the highest artistic merit," he says. "And they capture a bit of American history represented by these two great personalities. So the exhibit really has something for everybody."

The DAM is at 100 West 14th Avenue Parkway. Museum admission is free for Colorado kids ages eighteen and under through the summer; for hours and other admission prices, call 720-865-5000 or visit www.denverartmuseum.org.
