Basic Instinct

Did you ever wonder where that strange glint in your dog's eye comes from? In every dog, after all, there are ancient roots, instinctual necessities harking back to ancestral wolves and sifted through time into something more manageable and useful to humans. That's the story that evolves in Wolf to Woof: The Story of Dogs, an all-inclusive traveling exhibition created by the Los Angeles Museum of Natural History that's currently at the Wildlife Experience Museum, 10035 South Peoria Street in Parker.

"It's very interactive, with a lot of lifelike dioramas showing dogs in different capacities," says the museum's Keith Carlson. Along with the show, the Wildlife Experience will screen Wolves in the iWERKS Theater through August, and host special events, including live animal presentations, pet adoption opportunities and an August 4 Dog Day Expo.

Wolf to Woof remains on view through October 7; for information, call 720-488-3300 or log on to www.thewildlifeexperience.org.
