But for now, Wu is back home in Colorado and ready to spread her music around as the summer curator for the Colorado Creative Music Series, hosted monthly by Creative Music Works at the Laboratory of Art and Ideas at Belmar, 404 South Upham Street in Lakewood. Tonight at 7 p.m., she performs with vibraphonist Greg Harris a world traveler himself, who's spent time drinking in rhythms and culture in Ghana during the first of three concerts teaming Wu with one of her favorite local musicians. "Even though I've played in many different venues in Colorado, this time will be like my first official presentation in a cutting-edge, rather than traditional, style," she says of the show. "I'll be 100 percent free to do whatever I want to do."
Future concerts in the series will feature such artists as guitarist Janet Feder and accordionist Dave Willey; admission is $4 to $7. Call 303-960-5372 or go to www.creativemusicworks.org/concerts.html.
