Tour de Force

Bikes are so damn hot right now. It seems like every day, there are two dozen more mad cyclists racing their cut-down single-speeds up and down the avenue. And they are all so sexy, those gear-shifting girls with their big shades and those grungy bike boys with their jeans rolled up to their calves. But the clean-transit masses that have been taking over the streets of Denver can only gawk at the real riders, the incredible athletes that race in the Tour de France. For God's sake, Lance Armstrong lost a testicle and went on to win seven coveted green jerseys. That's dedication. I can't even keep riding after I rack myself on the crossbar.

Cruise over to Basil Doc's Pizza, 1481 South Holly, for Colorado's Biggest Tour de France Party, this evening from 5 to 9 p.m. Plenty of bike parking will be available, and spandex is not required; in fact, it will probably be discouraged. Call 303-782-9900 for info.
Tue., July 17, 5-9 p.m.
