Okay, maybe not. But the story is at least half right. There are actually twelve big cowboy boots on Broadway Paul Bunyan big. And local artists did make them. And today they're being auctioned off in conjunction with Eagle's annual Flight Days Parade, which marks the end of the Eagle County Fair and Rodeo. Everything is there except the kooky old boot-dwelling lady, which may or may not have an effect on the prices of said boots. Proceeds from the auction go to an art scholarship for Eagle Valley High School art students, the Vail Valley Charitable Fund and the Shaw Cancer Center in Eagle.
