Tonight's Open House Celebration organized to honor the Brown Palace Hotel & Spa's 115th birthday is invitation-only. Those who weren't lucky enough to make the guest list will miss out on a cook-off between chefs from the hotel's Palace Arms and Ellyngton restaurants, 115 tiered cakes, wine tasting, music by the John Kite Trio and an opportunity to tour the hotel's presidential suites and newly renovated rooms.
It's bound to be a fabulous bash, but don't feel too bad about missing out, because there are plenty of other ways you can join in the birthday fun. Every Saturday this month, the hotel, 321 17th Street, is offering a special rate of $115 per person, based on double occupancy; you can use the money you save to indulge in some pampering at the new $3 million spa. The Saturday-night stay also includes the famous Sunday brunch spread, and this Sunday should be a special treat since it's the hotel's official 115th birthday.
"They're going to do a flashback in recipes," reveals the Brown Palace's Shannon Dexheimer. "Our macaroons are almost as old as the hotel, so we'll be serving stuff like that, pertinent to the history." Tasty!
