Out of the Shell

Participants racing in the Denver Oyster Urban Adventure Race will face an unknown combination of the following potential disciplines: swimming, urban trekking/stair climbing, running, rafting, navigation, in-line skating, scootering or skateboarding and a mystery or two. The course itself is also a secret — so at the very least, racers can expect a day full of fun and surprises.

The traditional Oyster team configuration is three people, but this year there are two new options: Grab five friends for the Corporate 6 Pack — three team members race while the other three sit out at any given point in time; or try the Family Fun Division, which allows one or two parents to run with one or two kids, with a minimum of three teammates and maximum of four. Team check-in was Friday at the REI Denver Flagship store, 1416 Platte Street; registration is $90 to $150 plus pledge fees, and proceeds benefit Special Olympics Colorado. Spectators can watch for free; visit www.oysterracingseries.com or call 1-877-328-2783 for information or to register.
