Simply Divine

The Solid Art Collective explores epiphanies.

When Fort Collins' Solid Art Collective swept into town last spring to produce Femme Fatale 2, they proved they knew how to put on a successful eye-candy-filled event. So executive director dRe Williams and her cohorts immediately started planning their next art-and-performance party: Divine Intervention, happening tonight at the Oriental Theatre, 4335 West 44th Avenue. But what's with the name? "I've always loved those two words and their broader meaning of metamorphosis. This show hopefully motivates change in the audience's life — music and visual art sparks change. This is my divine intervention," Williams explains.

And the tinder to ignite that change comes in the form of work from more than 100 artists, with performances ranging from burlesque to creative cellist Ian Cook, whom Williams describes as "eerie cabaret-style, classical and folky."

The party starts at 8:30 p.m., and anyone dressing as their interpretation of "Divine Intervention" (hopefully more creative than the strictly Biblical) gets a goody bag from Evolution salon. Tickets are $15 per person or $12 presale, available at www.solidartcollective.com.
