Strange Bedfellows

Enjoy hors d'oeuvre and horny talk.

In Kama Sutra, the one-act play showing today at 3 p.m. at the Dangerous Theatre, 2620 West Second Avenue, the show's two characters are nearly naked the entire time. And most of the action — including "action" of the illicit kind — takes place in bed. Not to mention the fact that it's about a middle-aged couple whose sex life is turned upside-down when the missus discovers the love manual Kama Sutra in her library’s cooking section. "But to me, it's not that racy," says Winnie Wenglewick, owner of the new theater space and co-lead in the play. "There's more titillation in a lot of R-rated films."

While the comedic play's not too heavy on the T&A, it is heavy on pertinent subject matter. "It's a commentary on sexual exploration, when people decide they want to go beyond their norms," says Wenglewick of the work, which was written by her co-lead, international Fringe Festival regular Peter McGarry, who's here from his native England to perform. It's also heavy on the goodies; today's special $20 cabaret performances features cheese, fruit and other treats delivered to audience members' tables; those over 21 can bring in their own booze. How deliciously naughty. For more information, call 720-233-4703 or go to www.dangeroustheatre.com.
Saturdays, 7 p.m.; Sundays, 3 p.m.; Thursdays, 6:30 p.m. Starts: Sept. 8. Continues through Oct. 14, 2007
